22 Nisan 2004 Perşembe SON BİR KEZ DAHA BİRLEŞİK KIBRIS'A DAHA GÜÇLÜ BİR "EVET" İÇİN YİNE İNÖNÜ MEYDANI'NI HINCAHINC DOLDURDUK İnönü Meydanı yine tarihi bir güne sahne oldu. 50 000'i aşkın Kıbrıslıtürk "Kıbrısta Barış Engellenemez", "Denktaş İstifa", "Evet, Evet, Evet" sloganlarıyle yankılandı. İki Toplumlu Halk Dansları Topluluğu ile İki Toplumlu Koro oldukça coşkulu olan halkın coçkusuna bir o kadar daha çoşku kattı. Mitingde ilk konuşmayı yapan Başbakan Talat'ın "Sandıktan 'evet'ler oldukça fazla çıkmalı ki Denktaş artık Kıbrıslıtürklerin temsilcisi oduğunu iddia etmesin" sözlerine halk uzun uzun alkışlar ve "Denktaş istifa" sloganıyle karşılık verdi. Konuşmasının ardından halkı selamlayan Talat halkın sevgi gösterisi coşkulu alkışlarıyla podyumdan ayrıldı. Halka seslenen ikinci konuşmacı Barış ve Demokrasi Hareketi Genel başkanı M. Akıncı oldu. Akıncı hayırcıların mitinginde "hainler güneye" sloganı atanlara cevap olarak "Hainler güneye giderse kuzeyde kim kalacak?" sorusuyle karşılık verince halk yine coşkulu bir şekilde ve uzun uzun alkışlarıyla Akıncı'ya tezahürat yaptı. Konuşmasının ardından halkı selamlayan Akıncı da halkın sevgi, coşkulu alkış ve tezahüratı arasında podyumdan ayrıldı.

22 April 2004 Thursday TURKISHCYPRIOTS, FOR THE LAST TIME BEFORE THE REFERENDUM PACKED INONU SQUARE AGAIN TO REITERATE THEIR DETERMINATION FOR A STRONG "YES" TO A UNITED CYPRUS An estimated crowd of 50 000 gathered at Inonu square, a venue for all huge rallies taking place since the year 2000. Displays by the Bi-communal Folk Dancing group and the Bi-communal Chorus added further emotion to already highly emotional rally-goers. The crowd frequently shouted "Peace in Cyprus cannot be prevented" both in Turkish and Greek. Another frequntly repeated slogan was "Danktash resign". Placards held among others read "Naturally YES" ("Naturally" is a word Danktash uses quite often), "With a YES integrate into the world" Addressing to the crowd, Prime Minister Talat said "The number of "YES"es must be that big so that Denktash will never again be able to claim he represents the Turkish Cypriots" Another speaker was the leader of Peace and democracy Movement Akinci. referring to "NO" rally goers shouting "Traitors to the South", he asked "If all the traitors go to the South, then, who will be left in the North" |
