5 Mayıs 2002 tarihinde Apostolos Andreas'a gitmiştik. Aşağıda gezip
gördüğümüz yerlerden resimler bulacaksınız. Apostolos Andreas
Kıbrıslılarca ziyaret edilen kutsal bir yer. Özellikle bahar ve yaz
mevsiminde, hafta sonları ziyaretçi akınına uğrar burası. Bizim oraya
gittiğimiz gün de epeyi ziyaretçisi vardı. |

On the 5th of May 2002 we visited Apostolos Andreas. Below you will find
pictures about this visit. Apostolos Andreas is regarded as a sacret
place for Cypriots. Particularly in spring and in summer seasons this
place is visited by many Cypriots. There were many visitors the day we
were there. |

Apostolos Andreasa giden yolun uzerinde Yeni Erenköye (Yalusa) yakın
Teresa Otelin açık hava lokantasında oldukça ucuz, ancak taze ve nefis bir
balık yedik. Buranın havası manzarası çok güzel. |

On our way to Apostolos Andreas, we stopped at Theresa Hotel near Gialousa
where we had a nice fresh fish for lunch. This picture of Church of St.
Thrysos was taken from Theresa Hotel open air restaurant which is
situated just next to the see shore. it was a bright day and the
scenary was wonderful. |

Manastırın kilisesine girişte, sağ tarafta masa başında mum satan yaşlı
bir Kıbrıslı Rum kadın göreceksiniz. Adak adamak isterseniz bir mum alıp
adağınızı adayın, mumu yaktıktan sonra da kadına bir miktar para bırakın.
Resmini çekmemem için evvela başını başka tarafa çevirmişti, ancak Rumca
olarak rica edince istemeye istemeye objektive poz verdi. Sol taraftaki
adam kocası olur herhalde diye düşündüm. Her ikisi de çekingen ve mutsuz
görünüyorlardı.Onların bu durumunu anlayışla karşıladım. |

As you enter the church, to your right you will see an old Cypriot Greek
lady sitting by a table with a lot of candles. If you want to make a wish,
light a candle and leave some money for this lady. She first avoided my
taking her picture; but when I asked her permission in Greek, she
unwillingly allowed me to take her picture. The man on the left presumably
was her husband. Understandably both looked unhappy and reserved. |

Manastırın bitişiğinde küçük antik bir kilise. Buraya bir dizi
merdivenlerden inerek varırsınız. Resimde bu kilisenin kapısı gorünüyor.
Kiliseye vardığımızda kilise kapalıydı. Orada görevli polisten buraya
girmek için ne yapmak gerekir diye sorunca, her iki kiliseye bakan adama
haber gönderdi. (Yukarıdaki resimde kadının sağında görünen adam). Görevli
polis "İstersa gelir açar, bazan canı çekmez açsın burayı" diye de ekledi.
Her neyse, adam gelip kiliseyi açtı. Burası ağır nem kokan, küçük karanlık
bir yer. Duvarda etrafa zayıf bir ışık yayan mum vardı. |

The entrance door to a small ancient church adjacent to the monastry. This
church was lower ground so we had to walk down stairs. The church was
closed. We asked a policeman on duty there whether it was possible to see
the inside of this church. He then sent for the man (seen in picture
above) who looks after both churches. "Sometimes he feels unwilling to
open this church to visitors" the policeman commented. Anyway, the man
came and we were able to get in. It was a very small, dark and musty
place. There was a candle on the wall which gave out a very weak light. |

Manastırın denize yakın tarafında bir pınar var. Buraya yine bir dizi
merdivenlerden inerek gidilebiliyor. Bir inanışa göre bu pınarın suyu
iyileştirici özelliklere sahip sihirli bir suymuş. Biz de bunu düşünerek
eğilip akan bu sudan birkaç yudum içtik. |

At the far end of the monastery, next to the see there is a spring. Again
we had to walk further down a number of stairs to be able to reach to this
spring. The spring water runs out through a pipe. According to a belief
this water has a magical healing properties. We bent and drank few drops
of this water with this belief in mind. |
