On the 21st of April 2002,
within the framework of bicommunal activities, a group of villagers
from Louroujina and Lympia gathered at Pergamos Park and had a picnic
together.

Bay Mihalakis Hristodulu bu etkinliğe katılanlara "hoş geldiniz"
konuşmasını yaparken.
Bay Hristodulu, biribirlerine çok yakın komşu olan iki köy halkının biraraya gelmelerini önemli bir olay olarak nitelendirdi. Böylesi etkinliklerin yeniden yakınlaşmaya yardımcı olduğunu, bunun da vatanımızda barış, özgürlük ve yeniden birleşme çabalarına önemli katkısı olduğunun altını çizdi. Konuşmasına bu etkinliğe katılıp başarılı olmasını sağlayanlara teşekkür ederek bitiren Bay Hristodulu, Lurucinalılarla Limyalıları birarada görmenin kendisini mutlu ettiğini söyledi ve bu iki köyün birlikte duzenleyecekleri her türlü etkinliğe destek olacağının sözünü verdi. |

Lympia, Mihalakis Hristothulu making his welcome speech on behalf of villagers from Lympia .
Mr. Hristothulu marked this gathering of the two very close neigbours as an important event. He pointed out that activities such as this help re-building friendship and thus contribute towards a united, free, and peaceful homeland. He finished his speech by saying how happy he had been seeing the people of Louroujina and Lympia together enjoying each other's company and thanked everyone for making this event a success. He also added that he wished to see more activities jointly organised by the villagers of Louroujina and Lympia and pledged his full support towards this end. |

Lurucinalılar grubu adına konuşan Soner Arifler herkese "hoş
geldiniz" derken.
Soner Arifler, konuşmasında, yıllardır birbirlerinden ayrı kalarak yabancılaşan iki toplumu yeniden yakınlaştırmayı amaçlayan iki toplumlu etkinliklerin olası bir çozümde toplumlararası anlayışa ve barışa katkısının yadsınamayacağını vurguladı. Sözlerine şöyle devam etti: "Her iki toplumda bazı sivil toplum örgütleriyle bazı siyasi partiler barış ve çözüm için yıllardır uğraş veriyorlar. Şu sıralarda ise iki lider bütünlüklü bir çözüme ve vatanımızın yeniden birleştirilmesine yönelik görüşme ve çabalarını sürdürüyorlar.Tüm bunlar umut vericidir" Konuşmasının sonunda bu sürece herkesin katkı koymasının gelecek için en doğru yatırım olacağının da altını çizdi ve bu etkinliğe katılanlara teşekkür etti.

Soner Arifler making his welcome speech on
behalf of villagers from Louroujina.
In his speech, Soner Arifler, pointed to the fact that for many years the two communities remained separate and were alienated from one another and said: "Bi-communal activities are aimed at re-building friendship and fostering mutual understanding and trust between the two peoples for a better future. In the event of a possible solution this kind of activities prepare the two communities for a quicker and a better understanding and intermingling." He concluded his speech by saying: "For many years a number of non-governmental organisations and some political parties on both sides continued and are still continuing their efforts and support for bi-communal activities. This, and the current talks and efforts between the two leaders to re-unite our country through a viable and comprehensive solution has raised the hopes of all Cypriots. It is important to note that it is to everyone's best interest to contribute to this process. This will be the most profitable investment for all of us. Thank you all for coming along for this event."
